How is the Authority Score Calculated?

In the modern YouTube ecosystem, subscriber counts are often a "vanity metric" that doesn't reflect actual reach or influence. YTPulse employs a proprietary Authority Score to weight real engagement and consistent viewership.

The Authority Formula

Our algorithm prioritizes recent performance over historical accumulation. We use a weighted formula to calculate the score:

$$AuthorityScore = Subscribers + (AvgViews \cdot 10)$$

Why this weighting? Average viewership (calculated from the last 30-40 videos) is weighted 10 times more heavily than the subscriber count. This ensures that a channel with 100k subscribers but 200k consistent viewers ranks higher than a "dead" channel with 1M subscribers but only 10k viewers per video.

Global vs. Regional Benchmarks

Scores are interpreted through two different lenses to provide context:

1. Global Authority Score (Worldwide Scale)

• TOP 0.1% (Global Superstars): Score > 10,000,000
• TOP 0.5% (Large Professional): Score > 2,000,000
• TOP 1.2% (Full-time Creators): Score > 1,000,000

2. Regional Performance (Localized Scale)

Local markets (e.g., Poland, Germany) have smaller total populations. We adjust these thresholds to reflect the specific carrying capacity of the local viewer base:

• TOP 0.1%: Score > 2,000,000
• TOP 0.8%: Score > 500,000
• TOP 2.5%: Score > 200,000

This dual-layer analysis allows creators to understand their standing both as global competitors and as local market leaders.
